Retaining Wall Footing and Concrete Pad Installation Prep
The client requested the installation of a retaining wall along the edge of the property line of their Beaverton home in order to address the sloping backyard and create a more usable space. Project Details
Retaining Wall Details:
Purpose: The retaining wall was installed to stabilize the soil and allow for backfilling, creating a level area in the backyard. This would make the space more usable for the client.
Construction: The retaining wall consists of two main components:
Footing: A solid foundation was poured to support the weight and pressure of the wall, ensuring its long-term stability.
Stem Wall: The vertical portion of the wall was poured separately, providing the necessary height to hold back the soil behind it.
Backfilling: After the wall was constructed, the client plans to backfill, which will level the ground and transforming the previously unusable space.
Patio Extension:
In addition to the retaining wall, the project also included a concrete patio extension. The extension features an exposed aggregate finish, which provides both a visually appealing and durable surface for outdoor activities. This extension enhances the client’s backyard, offering a functional outdoor living space.
With the combination of a strong retaining wall, backfilling, and the new patio extension, the client now has a much more usable and aesthetically pleasing backyard space.
